Accessibility

Last updated: 26 July 2026

What we do to keep this site usable for everyone, where we know it falls short, and how to tell us about a problem.

What we aim for

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, or needing larger text. Accessibility is part of how we build, not something we bolt on at the end.

What we do

  • Proper heading structure, so a screen reader can navigate the page
  • Text that reflows and stays readable when you zoom in
  • Alternative text on images that carry meaning
  • Visible focus states, so you can see where you are when tabbing
  • Mobile-first layouts, tested on real phones
  • Animation that respects the reduced-motion setting on your device

Where we fall short

We would rather tell you what is wrong than claim a standard we have not earned. This site has not had an independent audit, so we are not claiming a WCAG conformance level. We have run an automated check against WCAG 2.1 AA across the main pages, and it found four things we have not fixed yet:

  • Low contrast text. Some of the lighter grey text on dark backgrounds does not meet the 4.5:1 minimum. This is the biggest problem on the site and affects most pages.
  • A label on the wrong element. Our logo container carries a description that screen readers are not required to announce, so the logo may be skipped.
  • Links identified only by colour. A few links inside paragraphs are distinguishable from the surrounding text by colour alone.
  • A slider that needs a mouse. One horizontally scrolling row on the home page cannot be scrolled from the keyboard.

An automated check only catches part of the picture. It cannot tell whether our wording makes sense or whether the site is actually usable with a screen reader, so treat this list as a floor, not a full account.

Telling us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, please tell us. Email hello@kentwebdesign.com or call 01622 278991, describe the page and what went wrong, and we will fix it and reply to let you know. We aim to respond within one working day.
