Who we are

Kent Web Design (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a web design business serving businesses across Kent. This policy covers our website at https://kentwebdesign.com. For anything about your data, email us at hello@kentwebdesign.com or call 01622 278991.

What we collect

We only collect what you give us. When you fill in our contact form, we collect:

• your name
• your email address
• your phone number, if you choose to give it
• your business name and current website address, if you choose to give them
• what you need (the project type) and the message you send us

Our website host and security provider also automatically log basic technical data such as your IP address and browser type. This is standard for any website and helps keep the site secure and working. We do not ask for or store special category data such as health or financial details.

How we use your information

We use the details you send to:

• reply to your enquiry and answer your questions
• prepare a quote and discuss your project
• provide our services if you decide to work with us

Our lawful basis for this is “legitimate interests” (responding to an enquiry you have started) and, where you go on to work with us, taking steps to enter into a contract. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

The only cookie this site sets without asking is the one our security provider (Cloudflare) uses to tell real visitors from bots. It is strictly necessary, so it needs no consent.

Anything that measures how the site is used is optional and off until you accept it. We ask with a banner, and nothing loads unless you press Accept. If you would rather not, you do not have to do anything: ignoring the banner tracks nothing. Our cookie policy lists every cookie and is where you can decline outright, or withdraw later if you change your mind.

Our fonts are served from this site rather than from Google Fonts, so loading a page does not hand your IP address to a third party.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the trusted providers that help us run the business, and only so they can do that job:

• our website hosting provider (WP Engine)
• our website security and content delivery provider (Cloudflare)
• our email delivery provider, which sends us your enquiry (Mailgun)

These providers act on our instructions and are not allowed to use your data for their own purposes. We may also share information if the law requires us to.

Sending data outside the UK

Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK-approved standard contractual terms, to keep it protected.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry details for as long as we are in contact about your project, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. If you do not become a client, we delete your enquiry once we no longer need it, normally within 24 months of our last contact. If you become a client, we keep what we need for as long as we work together and as long as the law requires.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
• ask us to correct anything that is wrong
• ask us to delete your information
• ask us to restrict or stop using it
• object to how we use it
• ask us to transfer it to another provider

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Please check back from time to time.
