What it is
Someone looking after your website, so you do not have to
A website is not a thing you buy once. It sits on a server that has to stay up, runs software that needs updating, and holds content that goes out of date the moment your prices change.
Website maintenance is all of that handled for you: the hosting, the backups, the security updates, the small content changes, and a person to ring when something looks wrong. We call ours a care plan, and it costs £49 a month with hosting included.
Why it matters
What actually goes wrong on an unmaintained site
None of this is dramatic. That is the problem. A neglected site does not break loudly, it degrades quietly until the day it costs you something.
- Software goes out of date and the site becomes an easy target
- The hosting lapses or gets slow and pages start timing out
- There is no recent backup, so a problem becomes a rebuild
- Prices and services drift out of date and the phone calls get awkward
- Nobody notices the contact form stopped sending for three weeks
What is included
Everything in the care plan
Fast, secure hosting and SSL
Your site sits on quick, properly configured hosting with a valid certificate. Hosting is included in the monthly price, so you never pay for it twice.
Daily backups, stored off site
A copy of the whole site taken every day and kept somewhere else, so a bad day is an hour of work rather than a rebuild.
Software and security updates
The platform and everything running on it kept current, tested after each update so an upgrade never quietly breaks a page.
Uptime monitoring
We watch the site so we usually know it is down before you do, rather than finding out from a customer.
Content changes when you need them
New prices, a new service, a staff change. Send it over and we do it, rather than you paying by the hour for a five minute job.
Priority help, same working day
Something looks wrong, you message a person who knows your site and gets back to you the same working day.
What it costs
Website maintenance packages, and ours
Most UK agencies price website maintenance between about £30 and £150 a month for a small business site, and some charge by the hour instead, which gets expensive the moment you need anything.
We keep it to one number with hosting inside it. No setup fee, no exit fee, no minimum term, and the domain and the site stay in your name whatever happens.
The honest bit
Do you actually need a maintenance plan?
Not everyone does, and we would rather say so than sell you something.
If your site is a handful of static pages, rarely changes, and sits on hosting you already understand and trust, you can manage it yourself and many of our clients do exactly that.
A plan makes sense when the site runs software that needs updating, when you would not know where to start if it went down, or when the honest answer to who is looking after this is nobody. If that is you, one monthly number is usually cheaper than one emergency.
WordPress
WordPress website maintenance
Most of the sites we look after are WordPress, and WordPress is where maintenance matters most. It runs a large share of the web, which makes it a standing target, and it relies on plugins that each need updating and occasionally conflict.
WordPress website maintenance packages usually mean the same list of tasks as any other site: updates, backups, monitoring, and someone to test that an update has not broken the checkout. That is what ours covers, and it is the same £49 whether we built the site or not.
Not our build
We take on sites we did not build
You do not have to have had your site built by us. Plenty of the sites we look after were built by someone else, sometimes by an agency that has since gone quiet.
We start with a look over what is there, tell you plainly what state it is in, and then either take it on or tell you honestly that it needs rebuilding first. If it needs work before it can be maintained, we quote that separately rather than folding it into a monthly fee.

“The site finally looks as premium as the watches we sell. Clients trust it straight away, and the enquiries have been serious ones. Exactly what we needed.”
“Clear price from the start, plain English throughout, and they explained every step. We were live in three weeks and the enquiries have not stopped since.”
“It finally looks the part, which matters when someone is deciding whether to trust you.”
“They turned our tired old website into something we are proud to send people to. We now show up on the first page for heating engineers in our area.”
“Enquiries through the website have more than doubled. It is easy to update, easy to reach them, and genuinely local.”
“We went from barely getting online enquiries to a steady stream of calls every week. The site loads fast and finally looks like the business we actually are.”
“People find us on their phone now and book a repair the same day. The workshop has been busier every week since we went live.”
“Quote requests come in overnight and are waiting for us in the morning. That alone has paid for the site several times over.”
“When someone is spending thousands on a watch they need to trust you first. The site does that job before we even speak to them.”
“The shop finally matches the products. Orders went up straight away and it is simple enough that we manage the stock ourselves.”
“Customers order online now instead of phoning through every week. It has taken a real load off the office.”
“Trade customers find us online instead of ringing round. The site sets out what we take and what we pay, so the calls we get are the right ones.”
“The phone rings from the website all day. People can see straight away what we do and how fast we can get to them.”
“Our stock changes every week and we can put a new piece up in minutes. Buyers travel to us now because they have already seen it online.”
“Clients can see exactly what we offer and get in touch without a long email back and forth. The booking side saves us hours every week.”
“The photos of our previous work do the selling for us. People arrive already knowing the standard they are getting.”
“The diary fills itself now. Clients book in online in the evening and we just turn up and do the work.”

Questions
Website maintenance questions
How much does website maintenance cost?
Ours is £49 a month with hosting included, and that is the total you pay. Across the UK, website maintenance packages for a small business site generally run between about £30 and £150 a month, and some agencies charge hourly instead, which adds up quickly once you need changes.
What is included in a website maintenance plan?
Hosting and SSL, daily off site backups, software and security updates, uptime monitoring, content changes when you need them, and priority help the same working day.
Is hosting included or do I pay separately?
Included. The £49 covers it, so you are not paying a hosting company as well as us.
Do you maintain websites you did not build?
Yes. We look at what is there first and tell you plainly what state it is in. If it needs work before it can sensibly be maintained, we quote that separately rather than hiding it in a monthly fee.
Do you offer WordPress website maintenance?
Yes, and most of the sites we look after are WordPress. Updates, plugin conflicts, backups and testing after each update are all covered, at the same monthly price.
Is there a contract?
No. It cancels any time, there are no exit fees, and the site and the domain stay in your name. If you leave, you take everything with you and we help you move it.
What if my site breaks outside working hours?
Uptime monitoring means we usually know before you do. We are a small team and we do not claim to be a round the clock service desk, but if something is down we deal with it as a priority.
What is the difference between this and the warranty?
Every site we build comes with twelve months warranty, which covers anything that stops working the way it was built to. That is included and is not an upsell. A care plan is separate and optional: it covers hosting, updates and ongoing changes.
