Web design for trades

Web design for tradesmen

Websites for electricians, plumbers, builders and trades across Kent. Built to get the phone ringing, written for you, one fixed price, and the site stays in your name.

  • £49 a month, hosting included
  • Cancel any time, no exit fees
  • Priority help, same working day
A work van, toolbox, hard hat and a phone showing a simple website with a call button

Built for a Kent heating firm

Every service
on its own page

Regans Heating and Plumbing wanted the right jobs to come in, not any job. So boiler repair, boiler replacement, bathrooms and landlord certificates each got a page of their own, written for the person searching for that one thing.

That is also what makes a trade site rankable: six focused pages each matching a real search beats one page trying to match six.

What actually works

Six things that change whether a trade site brings in work

  • Your number, tappable, at the top of every pageMost trade visitors are on a phone and want to ring, not fill in a form. If they have to hunt for the number you have lost them.
  • The area you cover, in plain wordsNot a list of towns. A sentence: we cover Maidstone and about fifteen miles around it. Vagueness here costs you calls from people who assume you are too far away.
  • One page per trade service, not one page listing eightPeople search for the one thing they need. A page called Services that lists everything ranks for nothing and convinces nobody.
  • Photos of your actual workBefore and after beats stock every time. A van, a board, a finished install. It is the fastest proof you exist and you are not a lead broker.
  • Your qualifications where they matterGas Safe, NICEIC, Part P, trade body membership. State the registration, because customers are told to check it.
  • What happens when they callDo you charge for a quote? Do you turn up same day? Answering the thing they are nervous about is usually worth more than another photo.

The broker problem

Half your competition is not a tradesman

Search almost any trade and area now and a chunk of page one is lead generation companies, directories and franchises selling your enquiry on to whoever pays.

You cannot outspend them and you do not need to. What you have that they do not is being a real local business with a name, a face, a van and finished work to show. A site that makes that obvious in the first screen beats a directory listing, because the person searching would rather deal with you directly.

That is a design and copy problem, not a budget problem.

Grieve and Wife Electrical website on desktop

Built for a Ramsgate electrician

A stranger has to feel
comfortable calling

Grieve and Wife Electrical needed a site that made someone who had never heard of them pick up the phone. Real photos, the area in a sentence, the registration shown, and a number you can tap from anywhere on the page.

Nothing clever. Just the five things a nervous customer checks before they ring, put where they will see them.

A Ramsgate property developer, on moving his domain

All verbatim from messages and emails, typing included. The last one is in here on purpose: trade clients are not web people and should not have to be, so when his domain needed pointing at the new site we did it rather than sending a guide.

What it costs and how long

One fixed price, agreed before anything starts

We quote one price for the whole job in writing, with what is included and what is not. No hourly billing, no scope creep, and the site and the domain stay in your name whatever happens.

Most trade sites are five to eight pages and take a couple of weeks once we have your photos. One Kent installer went from first message to live in ten days. The build is rarely the slow part. Waiting on photos and approvals usually is.

The words are written for you. You send bullet points and we turn them into pages, because a half written site never launches.

The honest bit

You might not need us yet

If you are flat out on word of mouth and turning work away, a website will not change much and we would rather say so.

A site earns its place when you want different work than you are getting, when you are losing jobs to firms that look more established online, or when you are paying someone monthly for a site you do not own and cannot edit.

If that last one is you, the first thing worth checking is whose name the domain is registered in. It should be yours.

Questions

Trade website questions

How much does a website for a tradesman cost?

We quote one fixed price for the whole job, agreed in writing before anything starts, with no hourly billing. Most trade sites are five to eight pages. Across the UK a small business site typically runs between about £500 and £5,000 depending on size and whether you are selling online.

How long does a trade website take to build?

Usually a couple of weeks once we have your photos and you have signed off the design. One Kent installer went from first message to live site in ten days. The build is rarely the slow part. Waiting on photos and approvals usually is.

Do I need to write the content?

No. You send bullet points about what you do and where you work, and we write the pages. That is included in the price. A site with placeholder words never goes live, which is why we do not leave it to the client.

Will my website show up on Google?

It is built to be found, with one page per service and your area written into real sentences rather than a list of towns. Ranking takes months rather than weeks and depends on competition. We will tell you honestly what your terms look like before you commit.

Do you only work with electricians and plumbers?

No. We have built for electricians, heating and plumbing, carpentry, construction, groundworks, garden rooms, awnings and scrap metal collection. The pattern is the same: local, practical, and judged on whether the phone rings.

Who owns the website when it is finished?

You do. The site and the domain stay in your name whatever happens, and if you ever leave we hand everything over cleanly. No setup fee, no exit fee, no minimum term.

I am not technical. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and most of our trade clients are not. When one client needed his domain pointed at a new site and told us he did not want to break anything, we did it for him rather than sending instructions. That is normal, not an extra.
